In 2015, Aboobacker Kiliyanni (Abutty) faced a pivotal moment in his career. As the Marketing Manager at a prominent medical center, he was presented with an opportunity to lead a new branch in Oman. However, recognizing the challenges of entering a competitive market and driven by a deep commitment to Bahrain, Abutty made the courageous decision to resign. This choice was fueled by his vision to establish a healthcare institution that would serve the local community with excellence. Embracing this entrepreneurial spirit, he embarked on the journey to create what would become Shifa Medical Group, laying the foundation for a legacy of accessible and compassionate healthcare.
2017
Announcements and Branding
In 2017, the group established its identity, unveiling the name Darkulaib Medical Group and its first logo. On September 9, 2017, the group announced the upcoming launch of Darkulaib Dental Center, creating anticipation in the local community with the promise of “Opening Soon.”
2016
Planning the Future: Darkulaib Dental Center
With a clear vision, Abutty began exploring potential locations for the new center. After extensive research, he identified Hamad Town, Darkulaib, as the ideal place to serve the community. By the end of the year, construction was nearly complete, and the project was officially named Darkulaib Dental Center, inspired by the area’s name.
2018
Launch Of Darkulaib Dental Center
On February 2, 2018, Darkulaib Dental Center officially opened its doors. This milestone marked the realization of Abutty’s dream and laid the foundation for what would become Shifa Medical Group.
2019 July
Rebranding Vision
Recognizing the potential for growth, the group began planning a rebrand in mid-2018. By November 2018, the new name, Shifa Medical Group, and logo were announced, signaling a broader vision and aspirations. Plans for a second branch, Shifa Budaiya Dental Center, were also revealed.
2020
Shifa Medical Group Officially Registered
In November 2020, Shifa Medical Group was officially trademarked, solidifying its position as a growing brand in Bahrain.

Transformation to Shifa Darkulaib Medical Centre
In October 2020, Darkulaib Dental Center was upgraded to Shifa Darkulaib Medical Centre, a full-service healthcare facility offering both medical and dental services. On the same day, Shifa Darkulaib Pharmacy was launched, providing patients with convenient access to pharmaceutical care.

Expansion to Shifa Budaiya Dental Center
On April 19, 2019, Shifa Medical Group expanded its services with the opening of Shifa Budaiya Dental Center, bringing quality dental care to a new community.

New Milestones in Budaiya
On April 10, 2021, Shifa Budaiya Dental Center transitioned to Shifa Budaiya Medical Centre, reflecting the group’s expansion beyond dental services. Later that year,

Faced with operational challenges at the Manama branch, Shifa Medical Group made the strategic decision to consolidate its resources. In June 2023, the group sold four branches—Shifa Budaiya Medical Centre, Shifa Al Riffa Medical Centre, Shifa Manama Medical Centre, and Shifa Isatown Dental Center—to focus on its core facilities and ensure long-term sustainability.

Powerful Comeback
In June 2024, Shifa Medical Group announced its comeback, unveiling plans for a new dental center in Galali. Following a soft launch in August, the grand opening of Shifa Galali Dental Center took place on October 20, 2024, reaffirming the group’s commitment to quality healthcare.

Expanding to India
Shifa Medical Group is proud to announce the launch of its new facility in Malappuram, Perinthalmanna, India, in 2025. This marks a significant milestone in the group’s journey, as it extends its commitment to providing accessible, high-quality healthcare to an international audience.
